Charlie Dalton is a washed-up, gently burnt-out newspaper reporter living in self-exile in the small Gulf Coast town of Fort Jackson Point. And he’s really not ready for Samantha, a sexy-hot single mom who's trying to remember what it used to be like before she became a single mom, and thinks Charlie might be just the one to jog her memory.
Before he knows what’s happening, Charlie Is learning the virtues of the Glock 26 versus a Sig Sauer from his pistol-toting friend Jake, a bartender with a murky past; dodging the unwanted attentions of a visiting FBI agent who wants Charlie to play a dangerous masquerade; and trying to keep a watchful eye on a motley assortment of double-crossing lunatics from the fringe of society – who are watching him, for reasons of their own. Charlie finally falls off his bar-stool and into a deep-fried hornets’ nest of lies, scams, and betrayals that threaten to turn his laid-back existence into the worst hangover of his life.

The book description provided contains a good synopsis of the story line. This tale MAY DESERVE FOUR STARS--the writing flows smoothly and naturally and the story is quite interesting. I settled on the three stars because there was hardly any action in the first portion of the book. I kept reading because the scene setting and character development was done very, very well. I'm glad that I continued reading because the action picked up and I enjoyed the story a lot. This author has a smooth and easy way of telling a story.
